In Patrice's Garden

I didn't grow these tomatoes, but I can pose with 'em. Should have taken my shades off, though.

Patrice is understandably pleased with this harvest.

It's a cliche to say that when one door closes, another opens. The door to Oz stands officially closed to us for the next three years (we inadvertantly overstayed our visas), but the door that opened leads to the kind of gardening that has been calling to me over the past couple of years.

Pretty.

Patrice employs raised garden beds. I've been involved with every phase of the development of the beds shown here; from clearing the sumac trees that occupied the spot, digging the beds, laying and wiring the drip irrigation system, to seeding and mulching.

Most days I leave Patrice's place with fresh vegies of some kind which Lara uses to create meals fit for an eco-voluptuary.
