Imagine a Christian version of the Onion infused with a sort of calm, observant irony.

Hmmm...

I think Landoverbapsist is produced by non-Christians posing as zealous and callously hypocritical fundamentalists for the purpose of antagonistic mockery.

Larknews grew out of an actual church newsletter and is what it purports to be; a humorous look at the ironies of religious life in a secualar society produced by self-aware Christians.

Bit of an apples and oranges kind of situation, I think.

Re: Hmmm...
yes, that's true. but landover is still funnier.

having BEEN a fanatical baptist myself in the nottoodistant past i can say from experience that landover isn't very farfetched at all. i know those people personally. when i discovered them a few years ago i actually thought they were real for a week or two, it rang so true. so there's something to it outside of mockery. they're not like, say, some atheists who find themselves to be enlightened simply because they don't believe in "religion", never having experienced anything of the sort for themselves. the landover folks do their homework, if nothing else. myself, i would call it "satire" instead.

Thanks for the link! It's funny and fascinating. It's nice to be reminded that there are smart funny people who are also Christians.
