Yesterday I was too old, but today...

The US Army has raised the age for new recruits into the Army Reserve and National Guard from 35 to 39. Sweet! Now, if I so choose, I can go fight in Iraq. Or, more likely, I can enter basic training, get my head shaved, and die of a heart attack on the first 5 mile run. Or blow out my knee. Or immobilize myself with back pain. Or, most likely of all, get rejected upon taking the physical.

In any event, my wife says she would not support me in this potential career move.

Sorry, President Bush, you'll have to do this one without me, but given the level of certitude and confidence you project when you speak on the topic, you seem to have this whole business well in hand.

Good on ya.

It's always easy to get in the army during wartimes. Underage, sick, a weirdo, etc. They even said they won't dismiss any open homosexuals until after this is over. Personally, I wonder how many 'serial killers' are joining up.

This is exceptional, though.

However, I still feel they'll fall way short and this may well hurt the US later. (cough cough CHINA cough cough) It's not a lifetime stain nowadays to avoid millitary service, both left and right do it heh "heh right and left". That beats being shot at for a few years, having to pay for your own medical treatment and then find yourself calling a kid "Sir!" at a nowhere job.
