Episode 4: Serpents and Power Songs

Extended Show Notes:

Fair Use: http://www.utsystem.edu/OGC/intellectualProperty/copypol2.htm

One of the halmarks of non-fair use of copyrighted material is that one's use of it would make it less likely that the listener would want to experience the material in its original form. Or more to the point, it doesn't count as fair use if it would cost the intellectual property owner money in lost sales. I hope that folks who heard the excerpt from Consilience will buy a copy of the book from Amazon.com and read it.

Same goes for Ayahuasca Visions

Thanks for the podcast!

I'm sorry to hear that neither you nor Dave had the experiences you hoped for with the ayahuasca, but I can't say I'm really surprised. I have found that, more than with any other psychedelic (I can't cope with "entheogen", myself), intent is everything with ayahuasca. It's a lot like a Zen Master: you often don't get what you go in looking for. It takes time and dedication to build up a relationship with ayahuasca; and as you indicated, it's not everyone's friend. You need a tight focus and a good guide to get very far, at least initially. Nothing works for everyone, but everything works for someone.

Also - some of the shamans Alan works with are better than others. My teacher is one that Alan studied with for a couple of years way back when.
Did you ever drink with Juan Tangoa Paima? I recommend him highly.

Are you on the Ayahuasca Forums? I posted about my first 3 ceremonies there but now I mostly stick to my LJ.

Again, thanks for your time and effort putting this together. If you or Dave want to chat more about ayahuasca, feel free to drop me a line.

Ayahuasca
Hi malabar,

No, I don't think I've done a ceremony with Juan Tangoa Paima. Regretably, I did not write down the name of every ayahuascero with whom I did a ceremoney. I have many ceremonies on video tape (which provides an audio-only reccord as the ceremonies were all conducted in the dark) and I'll be playing more icaros from various practitioners in future shows.

You're welcome to post your trip reports (or links to them) here. Not many people are commenting on the show, but I can tell that lots of folks are downloading it and viewing the pages for each show.

If you'd like to chat via Skype, just let me know when would be good and what your Skype ID is. If you don't have one, they're free, and it just takes a minute to set one up. http://www.skype.com

Stay well.
