Breasts

Big Brew-ha-ha over breast feeding because a neurotic flight attendent freaked out at the site of a woman breast feeding on a plane. Now people are talking about it. Of course, most of the discourse walks in small circles taking very timid steps, but some folks actually have something useful to say on the topic. For example, pooperman posted the following in a comment to an entry by ankh_f_n_khonsu:

As far as the visual of a publically-bare breast being somehow offensive to somebody's sensibilities, it is utterly ridiculous for someone to react to something so banal. The taboo, I suspect, has more to do with increasing the value of the visual image of a woman's breasts by creating a faux-sexual aspect to them and thus increasing the market value of things like breast implants, pornography, push-up bras, and music videos, than it has to do with anything inherently prudish about the American people as a whole. We're great consumers of corporate propaganda here.

Have you read anything interesting on this topic since the afore-mentioned Delta Airlines incident floated to the surface of the never-ending electronically-mediated gabfest?
