Screen Capture Utility

Can anyone recommend a good free screen capture utility that won't give my laptop the pox?

GIMP can do screen captures and times captures; so, you could tell it to capture the screen 10 seconds from now.

you might try this, as I discovered it works really well to get captures from any video source using your "print Screen Capture key"

go into your 'control panel', click on 'display', then click 'settings' in the tab, followed by 'advenced', followed by 'troublshoot' - what appears should be a setting slider for your displays "hardware acceleration"...the setting will be at "full" which is normal...slide the setting to "none" and hit 'apply', ( your screen will flash black for like a second ) then slide it back to "full" again, hit ok ( this setting alteration will make video play just a wee bit wonky on some players, but it resets itself once you restart your computer )
hope that helps...i've found that while it's maybe bothersome to a point to have to do everytime, it's the best way to get full screen captures from video players.

I've had good luck with PrintScreen (at least on Windows XP -- I'm not sure what OS you're using):
