Linux

Someone on my LiveJournal friends list would like to listen to the C-Realm Podcast, but, she writes,
i would love to watch this, but i am on linux. i have been on it for a while, but cant seem to make it play...:(..can you think of something to make it work for me?

I have never used Linux, but I expect there must be a way to use it to download and play an mp3. Can anyone provide the step-by-step?

If you're reading this on C-Realm and can help, please post your reply on LiveJournal.

which linux distribution is she using?

RHEL/Fedora/Centos: open a terminal, sudo to root, type yum install xmms
then she'll want to get the mp3 library rpm from here:
http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/xmms/
wget it, and install it with rpm -ivh whatever.rpm
then open XMMS in the gnome menu and it'll be able to play mp3s

for Ubuntu xmms is in the Sound&Video section of the Add/Remove thing in the Applications menu.
