	"C" stands for consciousness Episode 78: Fuel vs Food: NOT! KMO and author David Blume spell out the difference between ethanol as a huge corporate/government boondoggle and ethanol as a strategy for re-localization and bio-remediation. After that KMO visits with organic farmer Patrice Gros and two of his energized and idealistic interns. David Blume is the author of Alcohol Can Be a Gas!: Fueling an Ethanol Revolution for the 21st Century. In the podcast, I mentioned that we didn't have time for David to reproduce all the points about ethanol that I've heard him make on other programs. not all that sustainable, ethanol.

It's still good KMO. The graphic... it communicates. Your graphics are usually above and beyond...
Nice to know the last minute ones are also excellent.

Hey V,

I recorded an interview and reading with Doug Fine yesterday. Got some good stuff before the Skype/Solicall recording process went irrevocably south. Thanks for the pointer.

That interview won't air until close to the time when his book will be released.

KMO, I think Blume's comments on ethanol require a broader debate. First there are other researchers than David Pemintal who are questioning the eroei in ethanol. Additionally, I think that Robert Rapier has explored the issue in great detail. I encourage you to look at his posts. Perhaps consider getting him on the program. I believe he's in St Louis. Here's the primary link - though you'll have to sort out the ethanol posts.

Recording quality

Hey KMO,
You mentioned that you thought the cause of your recording problems was your laptop getting old or something? I suspect there's a chance that it's actually the Skype network getting over-worked, but if it *is* your laptop (and assuming you're on Windows), have you tried re-installing the OS? I recently re-installed Windows on my computer, a couple of years since the last install, and it definitely sped things up.
