Why in this world is it so bad to change your mind? You're regarded as abandoning convictions... I believe doubts are more important than convictions... And I believe doubts are the spur to all thought because doubts unite people and convictions seperate them.

-Sir Peter Ustinov

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

-Voltaire

Such the right words....
Most definitely (heehee, laughing at my own joke, sorry).

It seems to me that an open mind is essential to growth. If we assume that everything we know is right, then how can we learn? And how can we accept things which are different?

Re: Such the right words....
We were talking about doubt being a good thing (certainty is absurd, etc). I used the phrase "most definitely", indicating that I had NO doubts about the idea that not having doubts is a bad thing.

Thus, the statement was contradictory to the belief I was agreeing with.

Make sense? I can draw a diagram...
