From Poppies.org

Earlier this year, the Taliban ordered the halt of opium production in Afghanistan, and the poppy farmers obeyed. Now that the Taliban no longer threatens them, Afghani farmers have re-seeded their fields. Opium production will be way up come spring, and opiate enthusiasts will have Dubya and the anti-terrorism coalition to thank for plentiful and cheap opium products (e.g. morphine and heroin)next year. Or so says one contributor to the Poppies.org forum.

but where is that opium going?
as i understand it, the opium from afghanistan goes mostly to europe.
so how much opium is grown there might have little or no effect on street prices in the U S of A.
