Only free people have an incentive to be virtuous. Only people who bear the consequences of their own acts will care about those consequences and try to learn from their mistakes.

A free society rewards virtue and punishes irresponsibility. Government does just the opposite -- subsidizing irresponsibility while taxing work and responsibility.

-Harry Browne

If mere preaching of virtue could provide the answer, then we would have arrived at the threshold of angelic existence some time ago. If mere legeslation of virtue were an answer, we would have learned a long time ago.

-Terence McKenna

What McKenna would you recommend to someone unfamiliar with his work outside of your entries?

Thanks,

Personally, I prefer to listen to Terence McKenna. He had a manner of speech that was at once both annoying and compelling, and if you're open to going that route, I would suggest starting with his last appearence on the Art Bell show.

If you're looking to pick up a book, I would suggest starting with Food of the Gods : The Search for the Original Tree of Knowledge : A Radical History of Plants, Drugs, and Human Evolution.
