1. A Movie

Koyaanisqatsi
Some people claim it is the scariest movie ever made. It's a combination of slow motion, time lapse, and various shots of society, cities, nature... It has no conventional plot, but is totally captivating. (By Godfrey Reggio, music by Philip Glass.) (I can make you a videotape of it if you don't have access to it; it's pretty darn obscure.)

2. A Book

Julian Jaynes - The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind

3. A Music Artist/CD

Philip Glass / Uakti - Aguas da Amazonia

Philip Glass' style, but performed by the Brazillian band, Uakti. Lots of glass xylophones, organic instruments, and the like.

also

Ray Lynch - No Blue Thing
It's like listening to stars.

dotgirl. A really cool person I met because she was using my LJ client. :]

5. A Website

Fark.com Their photoshop links are usually fairly amusing...

6. A Song to download

Everything from SayHerName.com
The band "Too Much Joy" and side projects involving the band members

7. A Place to vacation

St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. :] I was there back in the 1980's with my parents. We stayed at a little resort called "Pineapple Beach" which no longer exists.

Other than that; a tour of all of the US's National Parks, in a pop-top soft-roofed trailer. (not an RV, not a hard topped trailer...)

Koyaanisqatsi is a badass movie. I watched it once (on shrooms!) and it was really incredible. Bleak, but fascinating.

recommendations
1. A Movie: "Man Bites Dog," a french comedy about a film crew making a documentary about a serial killer.

2. A Book: "Consciousness Explained," by Daniel Dennett. Believe it or not, this book lives up to its name.

3. A Music Artist/CD: Muslimgauze. A one man project of middle eastern percussion and electronics, quietly protesting the oppression of Palestine. He died several years ago but he produced so much that his labels are still releasing his albums regularly.

4. A LJ user not on my friends list: It's strange recommending people as if they were consumable entertainment. Especially since often the harder they try to be entertaining the less interestingly deep their writing gets. For some reason I think I'll choose covolutedfruit.

5. A Website: http://www.hermetic.com/bey/

6. A Song to download: Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues

7. A Place to vacation: The Annual North American Gathering of the Rainbow Family of Living Light. Talk about bang for your buck: several weeks of incredible food, entertainment and surroundings and you don't have to pay a cent! (Splurge a few bucks and bring a big bag of chocolate and you will be hailed as a Zuzu God!)
