Well, it's only taken me 94 episodes to get the C-Realm Podcast listed in the iTunes podcast directory, so up till now, nobody trolling iTunes for podcasts on their iPhone has had the opportunity to stumble upon the C-Realm Podcast. Johan, the C-Realm web wizard, thinks that traffic will increase quickly now that C-Realm is on iTunes. Well, here's a snapshot of recent traffic trends for the last 90 days to use as a basis for comparison: Where do these folks come from? Most, I guess, either subscribe to the RSS feed by one means or another (and subscribing through iTunes via the PodOMatic page has been an option since the beginning), or they navigate to the C-Realm Podcast PodOMatic page directly to download new episodes, but I can see that some listeners come to the C-Realm Podcast from links that other people have so considerately provided: If you are responsible for any of these incoming links, thank you. I usually don't do this, but I'm going to post an email that I received from a listener. It's long... the kind of thing I'd read aloud to fill out a show when I didn't have two full interview segments to play. The exact opposite is the case for the coming week's program. Recently, I'd come to the conclusion that while a lot of listeners come in through the peak oil sites, they were mainly single-issue listeners who only tuned in for the likes of Nate Hagens, James Howard Kunstler, or Dmitry Orlov and who had no truck with the larger family of themes that motivate the C-Realm project. In particular, I was under the impression that the real supporters of the show where the psychedelic tribe. This was mainly because I heard the names of many C-Realm benefactors repeated when Lorenzo thanked his contributors, and more recently I've heard Martin Ball thank some of those same people on his program. Pre-amble complete. It's a long letter, so I've put it behind a cut tag for them what don't care. http://www.cafepress.com/c_realm Hey everybody, When I describe the C-Realm Podcast to people, the question that I get most frequently is, "Do you make money from it?" The answer to date has been, "Some, but not enough to live on." The C-Realm listeners have been extremely generous with their donations, and I do thank them for their many financial contributions to the program. That said, as much as I enjoy creating content for the show, I need to direct more of my energy to putting the "dot com" into C-Realm.com. If I am going to keep this train on the tracks, at some point, C will have to stand for "commerce." To that end, I present the first C-Realm merchandise to manifest itself in the memetic marketplace in over a decade. Queerninja, host of the Sounds of World Wide Weed podcast, created the logo that appears on the coffee mug, and the large mug features the C-Realm business card that I send out to everyone who donates to the C-Realm Podcast. Contain your coffee and plant consciousness triggers in your life with C-Realm Podcast mugs. Thank you for helping me to bring a steady stream of new C-Realm content to awakening minds. Stay well. -KMO Link: http://www.cafepress.com/c_realmTags: c-realm podcast, cafe press, mechandise, shameless commerce

How much interview material should I record, and how far in advance? It feels a little strange when I put out a podcast built around an interview that I recorded weeks ago. At the same time, it really sucks to have to scramble around for last minute interviews on those Wednesdays when I wake up and realize I have nothing recorded for the podcast. Having been caught flat footed on episode #52 (thank you to Michelle Espinosa and A. Andrew Gonzalez for stepping in at the last minute)I've recorded enough material for episodes 53 thru 55 including interviews with: Prof. Albert Bartlett - retired physics professor and modern-day Malthusian. One way or another, argues Prof. Bartlett, we will achieve zero population growth. This is a long interview and is intended as a follow-up to his Exponential Function lecture. If you haven't heard that lecture yet, you can find it here. Carol Ekarius is a return guest. She joined me for episode #6 and we talked about living off-the-grid and about keeping animals. She is the author of many books including Hobby Farm, How to Build Animal Housing, and Small-Scale Livestock Farming: A Grass-Based Approach of Health, Sustainability, and Profit. I talked to Carol about keeping backyard chickens as well as her new interest in Toxic Body Burden. Mike Hagan of RadiOrbit. Mike is the creator and host of a weekly radio show that focuses on much the same subject matter as does the C-Realm Podcast. And his show has been on the air for three years now. I recorded a short conversation with Mike for episode #53. We plan to get together for a more in-depth discussion in the coming weeks. Please send me any questions you'd like me to put to Mike. And now a question for you good folks, who would you like to hear me interview for the C-Realm Podcast in the coming weeks? What topics would you like to hear discussed? Are there guests from previous shows of whom you'd like to more? Are there topics that we've already covered that you'd like to have re-examined from a fresh perspective? What about new guests and new topics? Help me put out a show that answers to your interests and concerns. Thanks, all. -KMO Tags: c-realm podcast Current Location: The Frog House

Episode 33: Amazing Rex GuestsRex Sikes (A.K.A. Amazing Rex): Rex Sikes is a Professional Mentalist/Mind Reader, Keynote Speaker, and Seminar Leader who demonstrates the amazing powers of the human mind. Originally from Los Angeles, Rex performs as a Mind Reader, and has appeared in movies, on television and radio. You may have seen him on numerous news programs, and on such shows as NBC's "The Other Side" The Learning Channel's "Perfect Proposal" or "Inside Edition". As an expert in non-verbal communication and persuasion, Rex is a consultant for TV News shows and celebrity trials including the OJ Simpson trial. He has authored numerous books and home study programs on personal and professional development. "You Can Read Minds Too!" and "How To Get People To Do What You Want" are among his titles. From his first stage appearance at age 8, Rex easily moved onto movies, televsion, and stage in Los Angeles. He performed in nightclubs and theaters and everything in between. His appearances include intimate private parties, large-scale events, local small businesses, and international corporations. For over 30 years now, from Northern Canada to the tip of Southern Australia, Rex is a sought after Speaker and Presenter on the powers of the mind. Sikes is the Founder of IDEA Seminars, Inc., where he trains students from all over the world in personal and professional development and influential communication. Link: http://www.amazingrex.comAlbert Bartlet (bio cribbed from his Wikipedia entry): Albert A. Bartlett is an emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA. Professor Bartlett has lectured over 1,500 times on Arithmetic, Population, and Energy. Bartlett is a modern-day Malthusian.
Professor Bartlett often explains how sustainable growth is an oxymoron. His view is based on the fact that a modest percentage growth can equate to huge escalations over short periods of time. He has famously stated that "The greatest shortcoming of the human race is our inability to understand the exponential function."
He regards overpopulation as The Greatest Challenge facing humanity, and promotes sustainable living. Bartlett opposes the cornucopian school of thought (as advocated by people such as Julian Lincoln Simon), and refers to it as The New Flat Earth Society.
J. B. Calvert (1999) has proposed that Bartlett's Law will result in the exhaustion of petrochemical resources due to the exponential growth of the world population (as per the Malthusian Growth Model). When I record the long interview with Prof. Bartlett, I will assume that the audience has already listened to his talk, : http://globalpublicmedia.com/lectures/461I'll flesh this entry out a bit later, but just now, it's time for me to get on home. Stay well. Tags: albert bartlett, c-realm podcast, nlp, rex sikes
