I wrote that Logan had the power to make our trip from Perth to Bangkok a living hell, but he was on his best travel behavior, and the trip went extremely well. Today was a different story.

We made reservations at the Centre Point Q House; the same place we stayed when we first arrived in Bangkok last October. This time, we got a corner room on the 22nd floor that is twice the size of the room we had last time. It's really lovely. We have two bathrooms, two balconies on different sides of the building. Unfortunately, the electricity was out for most of the day today. That meant no TV to pacify Logan, very little computer time as we had only the charge in the battery to work from, and worst of all, no air conditioning.

No, had it been just Lara and I here in the room, the lack of AC might not have put the crimp in our day that it actually did. The room is high above the crowded noisy Bangkok street scene, and with balconies on two sides, we got a very nice breeze thru the rooms when we opened the balcony doors. Those doors slid wide open, and the effect was one almost of having an open-air suite in cloud city. The problem was that with a 22-story plunge to the street below, we had to maintain constant active supervision of Logan lest he throw his toys or his body over the edge.

Worse yet, he grew bored and frustrated, and that lead to his transformation into destructo bunny. I took him down to the pool for a while, but he doesn't like to get in the water, and so that could only take up so much time.

Around noon, Lara, Logan and I set off in search of a restaurant called Once Upon a Time. We'd eaten there before and really loved it. We found it down the same side street where we'd left it a half a year ago, and the gardens and furnishings were just as beautiful as we remembered them.

Unfortunately, we don't know if the food stayed as good because as soon as we sat down at the table, Logan started throwing things. We decided that he wasn't going to give us any peace and that there would be no point in trying to eat a resaurant meal with him when he had such a mood on. We went back to Centre Point and ordered room service.

Without aircon, I spent most of the day lounging around the rooms in my underware.

Lara has pointed out that while I frequently post to the web full-body photos of her which she judges to be unflattering, when I post a picture of myself, it's almost always an arm's-length self-portrait, taken from a high angle to give myself a clear jaw line, showing me only from the chest up to conceal my thick mid-section. To top it off, I generally Photoshop the hell out of the image for maximum self-presentation.

For example, here is an image I took of myself and jazzed up today:

When I asked Lara whether she wanted me to post more flattering images of her or more unflattering images of me, she answered, "A little of both."

Well, in service to the latter, here's a bit of truth in advertising:

Sawasdee ka, welcome back! :)

How long do you plan to stay in Bangkok this time? Rainy season isn't here yet. It'll start around August. This is supposed to be summer, but it looks like it rained almost everyday. Before you arrived here, it rained everyday and electricity was out everytime it rained! There was one time it's down from 1 AM to 3 AM in where I live! Anyway, those are very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing!

P.S. If you don't really have any plans, why don't you and your family go shopping at Chatujak Market this weekend? :)

Hi, Sumida
We only plan to stay in Bangkok for a few days this time around. If all goes according to plan, we'll fly out tomorrow. Sometimes things do go according to plan, so it could happen.

Aw, Yeah.
Don't be afraid to shake what the good Lord gave you, KMO.

Re: Aw, Yeah.
I'd be hard pressed to keep it from shakin'. The good Lord gave me the starter kit. The good grape and the good cook gave me the rest.
