Ice Storm

Most of Arkansas escaped the recent ice storm, but not the Northwest corner, where we live. We've been without electricity for days now. We're staying with a friend in Bentonville. We're in day three of our stay, and we've got three adults and four kids couped up in a two bedroom, one bathroom house.

I've been calling our next door neighbor for updates. They took care of my chickens yesterday, but I'll be treking out to Gravette today to feed the cats, tend the chooks, gather some foodstuffs, and survey the damage. My neighbor reports that a very large tree near our house fell from the weight of the ice but that it spared our house and took out a fence instead.

I'll post pics in due course.

If you have heat and electricity at the moment, give thanks and imagine what you would do if you didn't.

Stay well, folks.

Yeah we are pretty sweet with a woodstove and gas, as well as electricity so far. In town I was talking to someone who has run out of propane in their trailer. Ouch. Electric heater sandwich at night with her son.

I am like a freakin techninjista queen with sateolllite (to date) to boot. Of course you never know when all that can change. The roads are for sure messed up. Its really lovely tho. Redwoods and ice.

We have had to flee before as well, lots of winter museum visits and wandering around the mall or whatever.
