Episode 87: The Way of Light

KMO welcomes Matt W. of the Temple of the Way of Light to talk about the experiences that lead him to start this community in the Amazon and what awaits the C-Realm listeners who join KMO for a pre-conference retreat there in July of 2008.

If I didn't respect intellectual property rights on the podcast I would have played 'The Light' by Love and Rockets.

A Reprieve?
I started poking around in response to the "sunny side" article you linked to. I found a couple of interesting threads on PeakOil.com that don't relate directly to Bakken but which have captured my imagination. I think I'll cook up a post on them, so thanks for the starting push.

Those threads are here:

and here:

I wrote to Nate Hagens to ask him if he'd do a short phone segment on Bakken for the podcast. He said he didn't have time but that he'd be posting something on it to the Oil Drum some time next week. His capsule assessment is that not much of the oil will be recoverable.

Even if the "sunny side" estimates of 500 billion barrels of recoverable light sweet crude prove correct, the total recoverable amount is less important than the maximum rate of recovery in terms of snatching a reprieve from the jaws of a Malthusian Correction.

yoga metaphor
I'm reminded of something I heard from a yoga teacher once. She said that she had heard from various people who had decided that yoga was dangerous and harmful to the body and not worth the risk because they, or someone they knew, had hurt themselves while performing some yoga posture or another (and I myself have hurt myself in just such a fashion). The yoga teacher's response was that these people who hurt themselves "doing yoga" were probably not warmed up and most-likely attempting a posture that an experienced practitioner would not attempt without warming and working up to it. Rarely, she said, do people under skilled guidance injure themselves like this.

Any thoughts on that?
I used your comment/question as fuel for discussion with AyasminA in episode 89: Ayahuasca, Alcohol, & Marijuana.
