Looking for a home for 3 cats

This is Pete. He is one of three cats that will need a home. My family and I are moving into a rental house in Maryland that does not allow pets.

Here is a link to a photo set that has images and descriptions of the three cats.

I also have a Flickr batch of photos of my dog, Ungo. He's living with my mother and brother right now, and I'm harboring a hope of not having to give him up for good, but he may end up needing a home as well. :(

I have several "stray" tomcats. Yeah, I call them stray, but I am afraid the truth is they have adopted me.
Anyway... my boys are all very cooperative, they don't fight at all and are willing to share their food bowl with others in need. They are outdoor cats, and I am really hoping to keep it that way. But they will have adequate shelter and warmth for winter.

If you can get Pete to me I'd be happy to have him. But I know I am pretty far away.

Rentals that don't allow pets have caused me to buy several houses that I didn't even want! And pets have stopped us emigrating to the UK because my daughters would not tolerate chips being put in their cats. (Well, that was part of the reason anyway.)
Taking in a stray kitten or two has got me evicted from apartments. Landlords wouldn't allow kids, if they could get away with it, I am sure. Good grief.

If I ever become a landlord, (or the queen:) I would certainly not put people through that.

I am happy for you KMO, glad you are getting out of AR.
I know a move is difficult... but really I think it's just got to be better.

Hi Victoria
Cape G is not so far away. I have a friend in Columbia, MO I'd like to visit, and I could drop Pete off on my way.

Thank you.

I unfortunately can't help with this for a variety of reasons, but I just wanted to say that you have very photogenic pets. :)

http://www.geocities.com/miller-roth/petahome.html > perhaps this will help?

to victoriapandora: i had the same problem with microchipping when i got my three cats from india to california because i was flying via france...and eu rules are very strict about microchipping. i didnt have a choice. i also didnt take a job in london because they wanted us to leave our kids in quarantine for six months because they come from a country like india where rabies isnt eradicated. needless to say, that was a dealbreaker.

i dont know where you are...or if either of you are in facebook.com or some such social networking sites...perhaps friends can help pete get home to victoria..there is an application called 'carpool' in facebook. here too if you are not facebook people > http://www.zimride.com/home.php

Thanks Venus. Well honestly, the micro chipping seemed an improvement over my earlier emigration to the UK. In those days you had to quarantine the animal for six months. That forced me to leave my dearest cat ever with a friend, and hope for the best.

Well, I didn’t last in the UK, so Yisselda and I were reunited after only a few months. But if I had the option of microchipping her, it would have been far preferable to being separated.

Okay then KMO, done deal.
Is there an upcomming birthday party in Columbia I wonder?

victoriapandora: just for information sake, the current laws allow pets to be reunited with their owners without the quarantine laws from certain countries. usa is one of them. of course, you have to provide vaccination records etc and get something called a pet passport(or something like that to assure them that your pet is disease free)

another loophole that i suggest to people to avoid quarantine..(from countries like india which is still considered 'inferior' than the united states by the knowledgeable folks at the customs office) is to go via germany which has strict rules re entry of pets from other countries, but have no quarantine. most island countries(singapore, australia) have quarantine. i dont think all this info is useful in any particular sense, but its good to know, yes? in case, you know hear from someone who wonders about being separated from their pets.

Well, unfortunately, (I guess) I am not going anywhere, anytime soon.
The good thing about that is I don't have to fly all over the freakin world trying to figure out where I can have a cat....sheesshh.
And yes, I came across those AU laws when I was considering going there. Shame that... I keep thinking of it as a free country, but I think I am being a bit idealistic.
Good info Venus, thanks.

we could possibly foster your kitties until a good home could be found. you'd have to drop them off on your way, if NC could be said to be on the way to MD. I guess it's more on the way than california. ping me offline to discuss, if ya want.

Thank you
What's your zipcode?

You can send it to kmo@c-realm.com if you don't want it on LiveJournal.

Re: Thank you
Heh. I tend to think we already live in the informational panopticon.

i live in Durham, NC. The exact zipcode would be more confusing on a map than anything useful, as we live on the edge of a large code-zone that includes a bunch of semi-rural area, too. Use 27701 (downtown) if you need something for shipping estimates. Altho I hate the thought of shipping cats. :-( We are just off both I-40 and I-85. If you want to chat about it in more depth, I'm usually on IM all day. My user ID is on my LJ profile, and the email there works, too.

WTF happened to make you have to move in such an unpleasant way? And why MD? ( I have an utterly illogical and unreasonable hatred of MD due to some tragic incidents there during my college days, but even so... it's godawful expensive, and a lot of that area is urban in a very unpleasant way. ) I'm several weeks behind on my listening due to family vacations, so if you said in a podcast I've not heard it yet.
