I want to beg you, as much as I can, dear friend, to be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.

-Rainer Maria Rilke

Whatever your question, however you phrase it, enter into it with an intensive imaginative exploration.

hi, i'm emily.
i found your journal the other day and love your thoughts of the day.
i hope that you don't mind that i added you.

rainer maria rilke stuns me to no end, but the quote you posted stands in the most central location in my room. it is a guiding element. i enjoy it immensely ;)
it's just so strange that it's one of the first thoughts of the day of yours that i have really seen.

umm, so anyway, hi. and thanks.

Hi Emily,

I'm Kevin. Thanks for the compliment and syncronisity report. I almost didn't use the Rilke quote today. It was a toss-up between that and this:

Few people nowadays know what man is. Many sense this ignorance and die the more easily because of it....I do not consider myself less ignorant than most people. I have been and still am a seeker, but I have ceased to question stars and books; I have begun to listen to the teachings my blood whispers to me. My story is not a pleasant one; it is neither sweet nor harmonious, as invented stories are; it has the taste of nonsense and chaos, of madness and dreams -- like the lives of all men who stop deceiving themselves.

-Hermann Hesse

I'm glad I picked the quote I did, since it prompted you to say hello.

Take care.
