C-Realm Transcripts

Got the following yesterday:

I wanted to let you know that I have begun a project of transcribing audio content, and I have started with a few transcripts of the C-Realm podcast.

Over time, I will continue to annotate and markup the text, with the aim of connecting more people to the people, books, and concepts that you meet and explore on your show. At this point in time, it is still much more likely for search engines to index textual content, and I suspect it will remain that way for a while.

I am creating links to the Amazon store for book titles that are mentioned. It's not my intention to pilfer money away from your own Amazon store, but rather to help readers more easily connect with the books that come up during your interviews. I hope you will not consider this a commercial use, and thus a violation of the CC license. (If I make too much money, I'll certainly share it with you.)

I should also note that I am not personally transcribing the show. I am utilizing Amazon's Mechanical Turk service. During the past few days, I've discovered that it's possible to get rather high quality transcriptions of entire shows for only $16, which translates to less than $2 per hour, on average. It seems that people are not doing the work solely for the financial incentive.

It is my sincere hope that the project helps people find your show and that they enjoy the show as much as I do. I was inspired by a comment that Neil Kramer made about creating nodes, no matter how strong or weak the broadcast may be.

With best regards,
Denton, TX

p.s. If somehow I have neglected proper annotation and credit to your original work, please let me know and I will correct it ASAP.

Your buddy Bryce is a real humanitarian, that one. As a transcriptionist on AMT let me tell you that it takes almost an hour to transcribe 5 minutes of audio.

People aren't doing this work "solely for the money" because he doesn't pay! He is trying to exploit downtrodden Americans, who have had to resort to doing these tedious tasks for pennies because the employment rate is so high. I know because I belong to forums that discuss it.

This country fights wars to rid the world of scum who exploit men, women and children and here Mr. Benton is all over the internet bragging about it. I think it's disgusting, unethical and shameful.
