.amr file extension

My new phone can record calls. This could be used for capturing interviews for the podcast except that when I move the files from phone to laptop they have a .amr file extension, and I can't open them. Does anybody know how I can convert these to .wav or .mp3 for use with Audacity?

If you'd be willing to try out a proposed method send me an email (kmo(at)c-realm(dot)com), and I'll send you a test recording in the .amr format.

Thank you in advance.

There's the mobile media converter and there's also an online service that handles such files (although that's probably slower for big files, since you'd have to upload the file and download the result).
