Facebook Friend Requests

I get about five a day. If I recognize a name or a face, I automatically accept the request. If someone sends the request along with an explanation that goes something like, "Hey KMO, you don't know me, but I like the C-Realm Podcast," then I automatically accept the request.

If I don't recognize a name or a face and there's no accompanying message indicating that we have a connection via the podcast then I ignore the invite. Please don't take it personally. You just haven't given me anything to go on.

Anyone who joins the Friends of the C-Realm group on Facebook will eventually get a Facebook friend request from me.

Ironically, I'm posting this notice to LiveJournal because Facebook has a limit of 420 characters for status updates. Stupid Facebook.

Yeah I put this message in my (alter ego's) Facebook profile info box:

IF YOU WANT TO BE FACEBOOK "FRIENDS" PLEASE WRITE A MESSAGE!!!

And still only get messages on maybe 20% of friend requests.
I think most people send requests without looking at your profile page - they see you on a search page or friend's friend list.

So my new strategy is that I've sorted all my friends into two lists - "Public" and "Actual Friends". (I also have lists based on location and other factors.) I figure as a musician it's good to have as many "friends" as possible. But I only follow the news of my "Actual Friends". You can also post things which are only visible to one list or hidden from one list.

BTW Has your livejournal page's CSS been cleared or is it something at my end? I viewed it in Firefox and Internet Explorer and it was css-less.
