I'm looking for a term...

I'm looking for a term that describes the belief that humanity is a finished product, that the history of our evolution as a species and a culture has lead to this humanity as it exists in this moment, the final and stable product of a long developmental process.

No. I've read other books by him, but not that one.

How about égoïste avant-dernier? The French just makes it that more self-centered.

Thank you, but...
I'm not looking to coin a new term. I don't want to re-invent the wheel. I imagine that there is already a body of scholarship on this issue. I'm certainly not looking for a term loaded with snarky derision (not that your suggestion does that).

Re: Thank you, but...
Well, oddly enough, just stumbled on this quote:

Arrakis teaches the attitude of the knife--chopping off what’s incomplete and saying: ‘Now, it’s complete because it’s ended here.’

Don't know if that helps, but might be closer to what you want.

Well, it's from Dune, but that quote ended this article.

I wish I had stopped at God Emperor. That was the second best book in the series.
