We have arrived

Lara, Logan, and I arrived in Bangkok this morning. I'm the last hold-out, at 5:30 pm local time, against jet lag. Lara and Logan are snoozin'. More soon.

I'm glad that you made it safely there.
I was thinking about you yesterday...

Re: We have arrived
Thanks for the good vibes. Who knows? Maybe you contributed to our safe passage.

Welcome! Hope you're having fun here in Bangkok.

It's 4:30 in the morning, but my jet-lagged brain thinks it's time to be up and around.

Would you be interested in meeting up with my family and me in the next couple of days. Right now, we're staying at the Center Point Serviced Apartments. We plan to check out on the 27th, but we're still very flexible in our plans.

Re: Thanks
I really would love to meet, but if it's after this weekend - it would be better. Where are you at? That apartment is at so many places (Petchburi 15, Sukhumvit 10, Silom, and Langsuan). Sukhumvit? You'll go straight to Phuket after that?

Have fun shopping! :)

Re: Thanks
Hi Sumida,

We're in the the Petchburi location, across from Pantip Plaza. We've actually decided to stay here a bit longer. It's very comfortable, and there are a few things we'd like to do in Bangkok before we move on, so if you're busy this weekend, that's no problem. We could meet early this week.

We have a two-year-old child with us, and that really limits the sorts of things we can do here. For example, we can't go to clubs, discos, bars and the like. I would really welcome some suggestions for child-friendly activities in Bangkok.

As for what we'll do when we leave Bangkok, we have vague plans to go to Phuket, but we have made no reservations, nor have we purchased tickets. We're open to new ideas and suggestions from people in the know.

I look forward to meeting you.

Take care.

Re: Thanks
I'll be glad to meet up with you and your family on Tuesday, if you're okay with it. If you live right across from Pantip Plaza, it would be really great because it took about an hour and a half from where I live and it's pretty convenient place to go.

Maybe you should go to the clubs and discos just for now. It's not interesting anyways. In my opinion. You can take your child with you anywhere but those places. I saw most farang (foreigners) took their baby to shopping and places. The weather is okay in Bangkok right now, it rains from time to time. Be careful of rain too. Bring your umbrella.

Maybe you want to go to the north before heading to the south. It's really beautiful in Chiang Rai right now (9 degrees!) and everything looks beautiful in November and December. I think there're storm or some sort of hard rain in the south right now. Have you been to Koh Samui before? That's a great place to stop by before heading to Phuket.

I think you should prepare for your trips if you want to go to anywhere outside Bangkok right now. In November and December will be hight-seasoned in Thailand. Hotels and tickets will be booked and most Thai and tourists who know about this have been booking. So, I think you should plan and start now.

I can't wait to see you and your family. I'm sure that your child must be very pretty. I'm sorry if you already knew what I told you here. It's great that you've been here before. Maybe you want to read what I wrote a while ago.

Take care! Let me know what date you're free. Next Tuesday or Friday will be a perfect day. But you can pick the date you like. Sawasdee ka :)

Take care my friend.

New Adventures
Thanks, CJ. It's too bad we never met up IRL. Still, the world is a small place. It may yet happen.

Hey, KMO, about a hundred folks in C-Realm issue coveralls showed up in my place wondering if I knew where "The Founder" was setting up the new headquarters. Can I send them to Bangkok? They're messing up my yard.

Ah, heck
I didn't have the heart to tell them about the down-sizing. I'll be getting Thai henchmen at a fraction of the cost. Still, tell them they're welcome to keep the cover-alls, or burn them if it makes them feel better. Thanks for coming out to Seatac to hang out one last time.

Oh, and I had a great idea for a new on-going comic strip while I was watching the Discovery channel: Lion and Hyenas are Nemeses. What do you think?

Re: Ah, heck
Totally. Hyenas could be ultra-slick pitchmen.

Re: Ah, heck
I think I've got a line on how to draw a vaguely lion-looking character. I'll need to start sketching a few Hyena designs.

I was surprised to see you write back so quickly, but then I realized, "It's not five in the morning in Seattle."

Re: Ah, heck
This is very true. It's the middle of the afternoon for me.

Lion and Hyena relationships will be completely new, and able to pull from "Roadrunner/Coyote," "Cat/Mouse," and "Abbot/Costello" interactions.

Maybe you realize...
that I was kidding when I first suggested the idea, i.e. it's a blatant rip-off of G&E. Now, though, it's sounding better and better.

Re: Maybe you realize...
Oh, see, I didn't get that at all. I was thinking of yours being a multi-panel strip filled with a mix of action and pondering.

Can't imagine where I got that idea.

Not to mention Spy vs. Spy.

Of course...
I think an omnipresent God wouldn't be able to move because S/He'd already be wherever it was S/He might want to go. Still, for the next three days, godspeed (i.e. total repose) sounds like just the ticket.

Woo Hoo!!!!!!! :-)

We're jealous! Have fun!

Thanks, lady. We plan to be on this side of the globe for 6 months. Come visit if you can swing it.
